Most of the structures that we recommend are steel clad. Some are completely constructed of steel. Our recommended carports and garages are steel construction from top to bottom. The sheet metal used is 29 gauge galvanized steel, with a baked on enamel finish, and is guaranteed not to rust through for 25 years. This effectively creates a maintenance free building. Unlike wood, or composition wood sided buildings, these will not need to be sealed, painted, or stained on an annual basis to preserve their looks and structural integrity. They will be there, doing their job, through all types of weather conditions, protecting your vehicles and equipment,  so you don’t have to take on the extra job of protecting the building!

If you are thinking of buying a steel building, there are a few things you should think about before you visit your dealer:
Know the approximate size of the building you will need. You might even want to take a few measurements around the home and the area where it will be placed. How tall will the structure need to be? Do you want complete enclosure? Know the approximate size of the vehicles or equipment you will be wanting to cover. Think about the size and type of doors you will need. Think about the style of your building.

Knowing these things will give your building pro what they need to help you design the building that will work best for you and your needs.

Steel Frame Construction Buildings | Carports and Garages

Steel frame buildings are often economical alternatives to standard construction carports and garages. Not only are they cheaper, but since they are built as modular systems, they also offer a little mobility. If you should someday decide to uproot yourself from your present home, there is nothing stopping you from doing the same with the carport or garage. If you should decide to do something of this nature, it is a very good idea to mark each piece for re assembly. this is true whether you are moving the structure a hundred miles, or a hundred feet.

if you found it necessary to remove your wood and brick carport or garage, the chances of saving much of the material would be minimal. Besides, the re assembly process would be difficult.

Steel frame buildings can be designed to fit many needs. They are almost infinitely extendable.  When building one on paper, you will start with the measurements, and establish the basic frame and roof. this will determine a base price.

Then you will be asked about options such as:
Roof style, whether standard, or a-frame, horizontal or vertical
Whether the sides and ends will be horizontal or vertical
Leg extensions
Side enclosure
End enclosure
Doors, walk in or Roll up
Windows
Extra bracing
Gable ends
Boxed eves
Storm anchors

When the price of the frame and top is established, each extra will cost a set amount. These will be added together and a price for your building determined.

Most modular systems for carports and garages are put together on paper when you go to your local storage and carport dealer, in a fashion similar to this:

• After determining length and width you will begin to add features.
• It will start with a basic building which will have a basic cost.
• Then you will add other features you want, usually starting with leg height.
• Then you will decide whether or not you want the sides covered.
• From there, you will need to decide whether or not you want ends.
• Doors, and door types, and windows are usually next.
• Your dealer will need to know what the building will be sitting on, and if concrete is needed or not.
• Finally, anchoring type will need to be determined.

Each of the items on the list will add cost to the building, but you can get the features you want and not have to pay for the ones you don’t.
